Windows Forms

The NetAdvantage Application Styling Framework™ (ASF)
NetAdvantage for Windows Forms now includes an application-wide styling functionality. Developers and designers can set the look and feel of a Web application at runtime with an XML-based style library file.  Style libraries use style inheritance to provide global styling functionality for Windows Forms analogous to web-based cascading style sheets (CSS).  Style libraries also provide shared, reusable resources that can be applied effortlessly across multiple NetAdvantage controls in an application, or multiple applications using NetAdvantage Windows Forms controls. 

This powerful framework enables many styling scenarios that were formerly difficult or impossible to achieve on the Windows Forms platform.

Professionally Designed Style Libraries
NetAdvantage for Windows Forms includes a rich set of professionally designed style libraries that allow development teams to leverage the ASF and achieve professional polished results rather than creating a style from scratch or requiring a dedicated design team.

NetAdvantage AppStylist
The NetAdvantage AppStylist is a stand-alone visual design tool that works outside of the Microsoft Visual Studio IDE, and therefore empowers visual designers and developers to create and edit style libraries, effortlessly and intuitively.

Windows Forms WinSpellChecker
The WinSpellChecker component provides spell checking capabilities for any textual content.  The WinSpellChecker control will easily hook up to standard Input controls, more advanced WinEditors, and even the WinGrid.  Also included in the WinSpellChecker component is support for multiple languages including English (United States and United Kingdom), Spanish, French, German, Portuguese (Portugal and Brazil), and Dutch.  Along with the engine, the WinSpellChecker component comes complete with a SpellCheckDialog, used to provide the end user with the misspelled words and a list of possible suggestions.  Adding spell checking capabilities to your rich client applications has never been easier. Visit the Windows Forms WinSpellChecker page.

Improved Windows Forms Features

Stylable Value List
All value list vertical scroll bars can now be styled via an appearance object or the Application Styling Framework.  Controls which incorporate the value list include:
WinComboEditor, WinGrid, WinTree, WinListView, WinExplorerBar, and WinSchedule.

Modified Property Viewer
The WinGrid designer now includes a modified property viewer.  This feature makes it easy to find which properties are set on the grid.

ASP.NET

Embedded AJAX Functionality
The overwhelming advantages of AJAX have made its use the standard of excellence in any high-quality Web application written today.   With NetAdvantage for ASP.NET, AJAX functionality has been embedded into the following tools, allowing for smooth asynchronous behavior without client-side JavaScript code. 

WebTab
By combining load-on-demand and smart callback technologies, the Infragistics WebTab gives you the ability to partition your data, without forcing you to segment your application logic.  The result is the best of both worlds -- a rich server-side programming model with load-on-demand behavior previously achieved only through clumsy IFrames. 

WebGrid
Adding to an already powerful arsenal of AJAX functionality, WebGrid now has the ability to filter data asynchronously.  Turbo-charge your application's performance and increase functionality by combining Row Filtering with AJAX, for incredibly nimble grid behavior.

WebCombo
In today’s Web applications, screen real estate is a hot commodity.  Displaying your data in the limited space available can sometimes feel like a magic trick, making drop-down lists a requirement.  WebCombo has been given the same built-in smart callback support as WebGrid, making AJAX paging available to WebCombo.

WebSchedule
With a robust ASP.NET scheduling toolset, it's easy to forget that you’re still working within the constraints of a browser. NetAdvantage for ASP.NET 2006 Volume 2 blurs the line between a Web application and a Windows Forms application even more.  With AJAX built in, WebSchedule provides automatic support for adding, updating and removing appointments without a single postback. 

WebSchedule Recurring Appointments
WebSchedule now provides you with the ability to schedule recurring appointments.  Appointments can be scheduled to occur on a daily, weekly, monthly, or even yearly basis.  Variances allow for a single occurrence to be modified, separate from the entire recurrence.

WebSchedule Notification Add-Ons
These application starter kits provide appointment reminder notifications via email or taskbar pop-ups. Simply set your database connection information, along with your authentication protocol, and you’re ready to build. 

WebMenu In-Place Drill Down
When adding a menu to your application, placement of sub-menus is always a concern.  The new DrillDown WebMenuStyle alleviates this concern by displaying sub-menus in the same spot as the parent menu.  This menu style is commonly used on personal media devices.

Improved ASP.NET Features

WebTree Full Node Select
Give your WebTree a more refined look and feel by enabling the selection of an entire node region instead of only the node text. 

WebTree Style Inheritance
Enable styles to cascade through logical hierarchies, enabling you to set up Hover or Selected styles quickly and easily. 

Improved MenuItem Layout
By restructuring MenuItem composition, layout fidelity has been greatly improved. Placement of MenuItem images and text will now remain consistent under varying conditions.

New Charting Features for Windows Forms and ASP.NET

Additional 3D Chart Types
Generate rich data with a large selection of high-fidelity 3D charts.  This volume includes improved Line, Area and Heat Map charts, which now use the NetAdvantage high performance 3D rendering engine. It also includes five new 3D chart types, the Bubble chart, Point chart, Funnel chart, Pyramid chart and Cone chart; and two new 2D chart types, the Funnel chart and Pyramid chart.  Additionally the chart control now provides an improved 3D property editor, showing you real-time changes to X, Y, Z and Scale property values.

Anti-Collision Axis Labels
The new anti-collision axis labels feature automatically determines when labels begin to collide and will use a variety of strategies to alleviate the collisions, including scaling the label font, rotating the label text, wrapping the label text or stacking the label text.  You can also define your own custom anti-collision strategies using these behaviors.

Default Presets
The Chart control now ships with a default presets feature which automatically applies optimized property values when creating new charts, allowing you spend more time implementing business requirements and less time setting chart properties.

Variable Height and Width Web Charts
Variable heights and widths are now supported when rendering charts on the Web as Flash or SVG. Simply set a percentage value as the height and width property values.

Improved Charting Features

SwapRowsAndColumns in Series objects
The SwapRowsAndColumns behavior has been added to the Series objects, giving you more flexibility in shaping your chart data when binding to Series objects.

Expose Custom Layers in Composite Charts
The Chart now exposes its powerful layering architecture in Composite Charts, just as it always has done in standard charts.  Gain ultimate power and flexibility by adding and removing custom chart layers to composite charts.

XHTML Compliant
WebChart now generates XHTML-compliant HTML when rendering to the browser.
