New toolkit - shipping early Summer, 2000
An internet specific, COM based toolkit that supports
client/server development over the internet or LAN. Provides a
framework for sending/receiving commands (LOAD, SAVE, CREATWIN,
etc) from one computer to another. The Internet Imaging Toolkit
is a collection of small ActiveX controls and COM objects, and
provides LEADTOOLS raster imaging functionality, such as load,
save, flip, lighten, darken, etc. in Internet applications.

Forms Recognition -
New toolkit - shipping mid Summer, 2000
A new toolkit that incorporates OCR, ICR, forms removal and
image clean up allowing you to incorporate high speed, high
volume forms processing functionality into your application. The
toolkit handles five different areas in the forms recognition
process; image input, pre-processing (cleanup), segmentation,
recognition and post-processing. LEADTOOLS Forms Recognition is
compatible with other LEADTOOLS imaging toolkits giving you an
unbeatable combination in terms of file format support and image
processing.

Digital Paint -
New toolkit - shipping mid Summer, 2000
A raster imaging "Paint" toolkit. The Digital Paint toolkit
allows a programmer to create an end-user paint program and/or
to include those capabilities directly into his/her own app. The
toolkit provides functionality in 5 groups: paintbrush group,
shape group, region group, fill group and text group. The
paintbrush group includes the various types of brushes, pens,
etc, as well as different tips and strokes. The shape group
provides the ability to draw shapes, as well as options for
setting various backgrounds. Backgrounds include transparent,
solid, tiled, etc. The region group controls the ability to
paint within (or outside) 4 specific regions, shapes
(rectangles, ellipse, etc.), surfaces, borders, and color. The
fill group controls how an area will be filled. Fill options
include solid, transparent and ranges in between. And the text
group provides various methods for painting text on images. The
Digital Paint product includes LEAD's raster imaging technology.
With the combination of the two technologies, programmers have
the ability to produce features and functionality that are
available in the popular paint programs such as PaintShop Pro™
and PhotoShop™.

ePublishing -
New toolkit - shipping late Summer, 2000
A new toolkit that provides a handle to manage multiple data
formats including raster, vector and multimedia data types.
Additionally, ePublishing supports document data types such as
RTF, TXT and HTML/DHTML with DOC, EPS and PDF format plug-in
filters available. The combination of all of the data types
gives programmers the ability to manage complex documents and to
create word processing applications or add word processing
features into existing apps.

ePrint -
New toolkit and driver - shipping late
Summer, 2000
The driver allows LEAD's extensive list of supported file
formats to be printed, viewed and routed to any supported
device. The ePrint driver also includes eMail, eFax and webPrint
capabilities. Once installed, the driver will launch a print
dialog from any "print command" within any program, such as Word
or Internet Explorer. The dialog will give the user the option
of printing, e-mailing or e-faxing the image, and/or the ability
to save the image to disk. The driver also has an automated mode
that allows batch processing. An API is included that allows
programmers to modify the driver.

A collection of plug-ins for any LEADTOOLS product that allows
vector files such as DWG, DWF, DXF and DRW, etc., to be viewed,
rasterized and saved as any of the supported raster formats in

Advanced Document Clean-up
LEAD Technologies announces the addition of
Advanced Document Clean-up functions to the award winning
LEADTOOLS Document Imaging and Document Imaging Suite toolkits.
Scanned documents often contain undesired elements, such as specks,
dots, black borders, lines, and hole-punch marks. LEADTOOLS
provides powerful functions that can clean up documents by detecting and
removing these elements. Each of these LEAD functions supply a
"hook" into the API decision making process, allowing the programmer to
obtain information about every detected element, and to use the
information to tailor the function to meet his needs. Each
function can also optionally return a region corresponding to any
proposed changes, allowing for end-user "preview" capabilities. These
new features, along with the existing deskew, dilation, erosion, min and
max filters, give LEADTOOLS Document Imaging the power and flexibility
you need when working with scanned documents.
The new document clean-up functionality includes:
- Border removal - Remove any
or all image borders (black borders surrounding scanned document),
with the ability to specify tolerance level for amount of noise,
maximum border size, and variability of border size.
- Dot removal - Remove dots,
specks, and blobs from documents, specifying min and max dot size.
- Hole Punch removal - Remove
hole-punch artifacts, specifying min and max hole size and count.
- Line removal - Remove
horizontal and vertical lines from scanned images, with the ability
to specify minimum line length, maximum line width, maximum gap for
dashed or otherwise broken lines, tolerance values for line width
variance, and other parameters to ensure that valid image objects
are preserved.
- Smoothing - Smooth the nicks
and bumps on scanned text characters (or any black-on-white
objects), specifying the minimum bump size.
- Text Inversion - Areas on
scanned image of white text (or line objects) on a black background
are detected and inverted to black-on-white. You can specify minimum
size and min and max percent-black of regions to be detected.
