LEAD H.263 Video Codec
H.263 is an ITU standard, designed for low bitrate communications such as video-conferencing and video-telephony applications. At the same time it can be used for a wide range of bitrates and not just low bitrates. H.263 is a hybrid of interframe compression that makes use of temporal redundancy and intraframe transform coding to use spatial redundancy as a compression advantage. Accordingly, a superior compression ratio can be achieved in comparision to other video codecs.
The LEAD H.263 codec is a high quality lossy interframe DirectShow and Video for Windows (VfW) codec with a quality and compression ratio comparable to MPEG-4. It can be used for a range of applications including video-conferencing, Internet video or surveillance and monitoring. The LEAD H.263 codec is suitable for videos captured from cameras as well as video screen captures. This video codec registers into the Windows collection of multimedia drivers and integrates with any application using DirectShow and Microsoft Video for Windows. Existing video software, such as Windows Media Player and Ulead Media Studio can utilize this codec to play, create, convert and edit.
