The Advanced Repackaging class assumes you have prior repackaging and
Wise Package Studio or Wise for Windows Installer experience. (See the criteria
below.) This class is fast-paced, deals with complex repackaging issues, and
contains challenging repackaging scenarios. Following a brief review of
Microsoft® Windows® Installer, Wise Package Studio, and exclusion lists, the
class immediately delves into learning about and working with complex
applications. Through intense hands-on work, you will learn how to do the
following in the Advanced Repackaging class:
- Apply the fundamentals of Microsoft Windows
Installer technology to your installation
- Build an exclusion list and establish a
repackaging environment that conforms to best practice guidelines
- Repackage and troubleshoot complex applications
- Apply options such as merge modules, macros, and
custom actions to complex repackaged applications
- Run validation checking on packages
- Manage conflicts in packages
- Add security to packages

Prerequisites
To maximize learning for each student, you must meet the following
criteria to attend the Advanced Repackaging class:
- Have taken Repackaging with Wise Package Studio or have experience using
Wise Package Studio AND
- Have repackaging experience using Microsoft Windows Installer (.MSI)
technology
- Have experience using the Microsoft RegEdit tool
